I am a person who has traveled back and forth between a focus on people and a focus on computing technologies.  On one side, I have been a therapist and psychiatrist, learning about human needs, habits, thoughts and behaviors.  On the other, I have explored technology, researching emotional effects of Virtual Reality, studying EEG and statistical measures of brain function, and clinically applying neurofeedback through video games and displays. I am now exploring the rapidly growing area of machine learning and have started to blog to communicate and gather ideas about how to tie such disparate threads together.  I believe that we need to balance human values and drives with mindful use and design of technology, and I hope to learn from your comments some better ways to make that happen.
